- Over a decade, the number of spa visits has grown from 90.7 million in 1999 to 150 million in 2010.
REVENUE
- In 2011, $13.4 billion of revenue was generated by the U.S. spa industry, an increase of 4.5 percent compared to the previous year.

The total was comprised of 149,200 full-time employees (an eight percent increase), 134,200 part-time employees (a decrease of 2.2 percent) and 55,200 contract employees (a 2.8 percent decrease).
- 2010: In May 2010, there were 332,000 total employees. The total was comprised of 138,100 full-time employees, 137,200 part-time employees and 56,800 contract employees.
- 2009: In March 2009, there were 340,000 total employees. The total was comprised of 158,200 full-time employees, 112,300 part-time employees and 70,100 contract employees.
- 1999: Over a decade, the number of spa industry employees has grown from 151,000 in 1999 to 338,600 in May 2011.
