ISPA MEMBERS ON TWITTER

Join @ISpaDoYou and Create Buzz on Twitter

The International SPA Association's Twitter account, @ISpaDoYou, helps spread the word about the latest spa industry news and promotes ISPA members.  With more than 2,300 followers (increasing daily) on Twitter, ISPA reaches both spa professionals and consumers from across the globe.  ISPA creates buzz for its members and the world of spa through the use of social media.  Members are encouraged to share spa and product promotions with ISPA to be incorporated into tweets to be distributed to @ISpaDoYou followers.  This new member benefit provides a great zero cost marketing opportunity.

How can I get my product or spa mentioned on Twitter by @ISpaDoYou?

This part is simple.  Members can send information on the promotion or product they would like featured on Twitter via e-mail to ispadoyou@ispastaff.com.  Since tweets are limited to 140 characters or less, please provide a Web site link to include with the message.  No need to worry about writing the message, ISPA's Twitter experts will take care of that for you.

Seven Ways ISPA Members Can Use Twitter as a Business Tool

  1. Create positive buzz for your company by tweeting about local news articles, awards or positive customer feedback.

@Miiamo: THIS JUST IN: Mii amo named BEST DESTINATION SPA by Travel & Leisure!
    http://biturl.cc/cT
  2. Bring new business through the door by using Twitter as a marketing tool to announce promotions.  Spas can use Twitter to promote special Twitter follower discounts to help fill open appointment times during slower periods.  Resource partners can promote special product discounts to reduce last season's inventory or spread the word about a new product launch.

OldEdwardsInn:   Old Edwards Inn and Spa will be giving away a 2 night getaway per month at random to 1lucky Twitter follower. Good Luck!
  3. Use key words in your tweets to attract new consumers.  It is common for people to conduct searches on Twitter to identify who they want to follow by using key word searches. Be sure to think strategically when preparing tweets to help people find you.  Include your city for spa specials and be descriptive when promoting products or services.

@GoldenDoorSpa: AZ Resident Special-Boulders Golden Door Spa: 40% off the 2nd spa service (same day/guest) and $99 Avocado Citrus Scrub. Call 480-595-3500.
  4. Use Twitter as a networking tool.  Reach out to your followers to help answer questions or solve problems.  For example, ask other industry professionals on Twitter if they have had success using a particular business software you are considering for purchase.

@LakeAustinSpa:    Our in-house experts will soon be YouTube stars! Two minute meditation, cooking demos - what else do you want to see?
  5. Follow and share information with relevant bloggers, which often leads to free publicity.  Offer samples of your new products to spa or beauty bloggers to encourage a feature or mention on their blog.

@PevoniaBotanica: Editor or beauty blogger? Let me know which products you'd like to try and where you'd like me to send them!
    http://www.pevonia.com/
  6. Conduct regular Twitter searches for your company or product name to see what people are saying.  Share positive comments with your Twitter followers by retweeting the message.  This is also a great way to identify areas for improvement based on customer's comments and help mend  relationships with unsatisfied customers.

@JaneIredale: RT @spaboutique: New Post about the Limited Edtition Jane Iredale Kit coming out soon.
    http://bit.ly/V4KgI So excited!
  7. Increase traffic on your company's Web site.  Prepare tweets that leave people wanting to know more and provide a link to your Web site at the end of the tweet to provide additional information.

Seven Twitter Tips

  1. Build your follower base before you start tweeting.  Identify people to follow on Twitter through key word searches (i.e. spa, organic, travel, massage, etc.).  This will result in several people following you in return.
  2. Keep your tweets casual and fun.  No boring tweets please!
  3. Don't be too sales oriented.   Constant solicitation will often lead to the loss of followers.
  4. Send Informative tweets with Web links. Use http://bit.ly/  to shorten your Web links and track the number of people who click on your link.
  5. Don't send too many tweets.  No one likes to follow a twitterbox.  This tends to result in the loss of followers. @ISpaDoYou sends an average of 3-6 tweets per day.
  6. Download TweetDeck (http://www.tweetdeck.com/) to manage your Twitter account.  This tool allows you to easily keep tabs on what people are saying about your spa or products.
  7. Participate in #followfriday, held every Friday, to recommend colleagues you follow and in return you might receive some mentions.  Below is an example.

@Spa_Eastman: Spa lovers follow @DestinationSpa @GreenMtnFoxRun @RedMountainSpa @OaksSpa @lakeaustinspa @fitpath @MoreSpaTraffic @IspaDoYou #FollowFriday
