ISPA Chairman - Jim Root
International SPA Association Chairman Jim Root brings more than 30 years of spa and hospitality management to the association. Root is serving a second term as Chairman of ISPA, the leading worldwide organization of the spa industry with more than 3,000 members in 75 countries.
This consummate spa professional is the President of Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa in Corona, Calif. Root has enjoyed a career in spa and hospitality management at some of the leading resort and destination spas in Europe, Asia, Mexico and the United States. He most recently served as the General Manager of Spa Operations at Sea Island Resorts in Georgia and also held positions at Miraval Live in Balance in Arizona, Meadowood Napa Valley in California, and Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico.
Root has been acknowledged for his employee team building, stewarding organizational and operational transitions and crafting memorable and life-changing experiences for guests. He is also a passionate and often-quoted voice for the spa lifestyle and experience.
He received a B.S. from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, class of 1977, and is a long-standing member of the Cornell Hotel Society. Root and his wife Meg are the parents of sons, Jimmy, 8 and Chris, 5. Both boys are not only already invested in spa, but are reflections of their dad’s commitment to spa as a lifestyle and community and not just a business or an industry.
