LIVESPA TO DEBUT IN JUNE 2008

New Publication is Focused on Educating the Spa Consumer

LEXINGTON, Ky. – “Images of beautiful ladies with cucumbers over their eyes are passé as savvy consumers are no longer fooled by this representation of the spa-goer,” said International SPA Association President Lynne McNees while talking about the association’s new magazine, LiveSpa. As the voice of the spa industry since 1991, ISPA is debuting LiveSpa in June to debunk myths, enrich lives and show that living a simple yet healthy lifestyle is not an oxymoron.

LiveSpa is geared toward real people focusing on real issues and how spa can play an integral part in their quest for health,” said ISPA Chairman Jim Root. “Everyone is going to spas - men account for 31 percent of spa-goers, and nearly 4 million teens have been to a spa. Though, many consumers have questions about what to expect before, during and after a spa experience – and that’s where LiveSpa comes in.”

McNees added, “Including timeless information such as how to choose a spa and what to expect from a spa experience, LiveSpa will speak directly to the brand-new (or relatively new) spa-goer to educate and ease their fears of the spa experience.”

Planned articles include:
• Through the Eyes of a First-time Spa-goer – a behind-the-scenes look at a newbie’s spa experience
• The Mindful Approach to Aging - (Hint: there’s no “get young quick” scheme)
• Organically Inclined – What does “pure” and “natural” mean anyway when it comes to skin and body care products?
• Who Goes to Spas – From boomers to honeymooners, and everyone in between
• Anatomy of a Treatment – What a consumer can expect from start to finish

LiveSpa will be available in June through ISPA’s members. Representing more than 3,000 spas and product manufacturers in 75 countries, the complete list of ISPA members may be found on www.experienceispa.com. Copies will also be available directly through the association on the Web site.
