ISPA AND LOHAS PARTNER TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLES
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The International SPA Association and Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability, commonly known as LOHAS, recently formed a favorable partnership. The alliance focuses on educating environmentally conscious consumers and businesses on the numerous opportunities within the spa industry, and in turn, connecting ISPA’s members with this group.
ISPA Chairman Jim Root stated, “The power of possibilities is incredible between ISPA and LOHAS. As the spa experience is based on engaging in a healthy and balanced life, the partnership with LOHAS is a natural relationship. ISPA’s members frequently participate in LOHAS-related initiatives including community-oriented programs, recycling and the usage of organic or natural products. It is exciting for spa professionals to have a direct connection to the LOHAS consumer and their values.”
“The spa and LOHAS markets are booming. Twenty-five percent of U.S. adults have been to a spa while 30 percent of adults in America are considered LOHAS consumers,” added ISPA President Lynne Walker McNees. “Spa-goers are inherently interested in the LOHAS principles of a sustainable economy, lifestyles that are healthy and ecological, alternative health care and personal development.”
"We're delighted to partner with ISPA and can't wait to see and experience the ISPA Spa Pavilion. We expect this to be one of the most popular exhibits at the show," said Ted Ning, conference director for the LOHAS 11 Forum. "Sustainability is becoming more important to this industry, which is very gratifying to us. We expect that our partnership will continue to be mutually rewarding in the years to come."
ISPA and LOHAS will join forces during the annual meeting known as LOHAS 11. Held May 14-16 in Marina del Ray, Calif., this conference is known for bringing together hundreds of business leaders focused on influencing consumer behavior and purchasing decisions while promoting healthy and sustainable lifestyles.
During the event, the first-ever ISPA Pavilion will consist of exhibiting ISPA members that advocate a sustainable lifestyle. ISPA members will exchange ideas with business attendees and have the opportunity to increase consumer awareness through one-on-one time with media attendees; a portion of the Pavilion is reserved for media only. Past LOHAS conference media attendees include The New York Times, Associated Press, E! Entertainment News, Business Week and People.
