ISPA 2005, Singapore attracted more than 3,800 visitors

Singapore – The recently concluded ISPA 2005, Singapore at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre from 5 – 7 May 2005 has reinforced its position as Asia's Decisive Spa and Wellness event. Back in Singapore for its 7th presentation, this International Conference & Exhibition on Spa Resorts, Health Care Products, Equipment, Accessories & Essentials received a heartening response from industry players this year; offering a truly "Uniquely Asian" perspective in a market that is very amenable to the slew of innovative benefits offered by the global spa industry. 

The Conference Opening was attended by over 400 delegates and invited guests. Some of the engaging topics blending the best of East and West over the 3-day conference include:
• Keynote Session 1 "The Coming of Age of the Spa Industry" Kate Mearns (Chairman, ISPA)
• Keynote Session 2 Asia Tourism Panel "The Spa Industry in relation to Tourism" Five Government Addresses by Tourism Authorities of Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and Taiwan.

• Acupuncture & Holistic Health
• Integrative (East-West) Medicine
• The Merging of Filipino Traditional Healing into Asian/Philippine Spa and Wellness
• Thai Herbs in Modern Technology
• Changing Healthcare Expectations
• Understanding Your Energetic Anatomy (Ayuvedic Philosophy)
• Filipino Hilot Massage (Traditional Healing Technique)
• Chakra Balancing Demonstration
• Traditional Thai Massage Techniques

For the first time, the largest ever concurrent Exhibition attracted a total number of 105 main exhibitors, agents and representatives from 15 countries namely, Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom and USA.

ISPA 2005 attracted a record total of over 3,800 trade and public visitors to the show.

Companies who took part in the Exhibition displayed a wide range of products and services such as body care, spa and beauty care products and equipment, hair care, raw materials, therapy products and services, eastern remedies and medicines, spa resorts, aroma oil, massage oil and cream, wellness & skincare products, massage tables and equipment and accessories. Demonstrations, facial and body massages were presented by leading companies. There were also free talks and presentations by Neo Asia, Heritage 21, Luxasia, Pacific Health & Beauty, TP4 International, Air Front, Yena Trading and Goldian Trading.

The Welcome Reception sponsored by Singapore Tourism Board was held at the Asian Civilisations Museum (Empress Place) on 5 May 2005. Entertainment lined up included a cultural dance and a teh-tarik performance. Several stations comprising henna and calligraphy artists were also featured at this informal networking get-together.

The Gala Dinner sponsored by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) was held at the Suntec Singapore Ballroom 2 on 6 May 2005. Guests of honour present at the dinner included:

Distinguished guests from Thailand who graced the dinner included:
Mr. Chakramon Phasukavanich, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Thailand and Chairman of the Institute for Small and Medium Enterprises Development Thailand (ISMED)
and HE Mr. Chalermpol Thanchitt, Ambassador, Royal Thai Embassy.

The evening's programme commenced with an invigorating show themed "Thai Spa for body and soul" courtesy of TAT. Plaques were also presented to all our sponsors as tokens of appreciation followed by an official hand-over ceremony by Mr. Peter Sng, Chairman, ISPA

2005, Singapore to representatives from ISMED and Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the joint organisers for ISPA 2006 in Thailand. The evening's programme came to a close with a Silent Auction and Lucky Draw where attractive prizes including air ticket from Thai Airways and spa course vouchers were given away.
