Testing Locations
You have two testing options.
OPTION 1- A PROCTORED CERTIFIED SPA SUPERVISOR EXAM
For testing option 1, you must have your exam proctored. A proctor is the person who will administer your exam. A proctor may be any one of the following: an ISPA member, spa-related educator, your direct supervisor or manager. Relatives cannot proctor the CSS Exam. Proctors are asked to sign a proctor agreement (included with the exam) that certifies the candidate did not receive any oral or written assistance during the certification exam.
If a candidate selects testing option 1 under section 5 on the CSS exam application form, they must provide their proctor's name and contact information. Please obtain consent from this individual before submitting his or her name. Your exam will be sealed and mailed directly to your proctor. The proctor will receive detailed instructions on how to administer the exam. Once your proctor receives the exam, you have 30 days to take the exam. Proctors only administer the exam. They do not grade them and they will not be notified of a candidate’s score. Only the applicant will be notified of their exam score.
OPTION 2 - ISPA EVENT
CSS candidates can take the exam at a certification test site. Certification test sites are simply group sessions where candidates enrolled in the CSS program meet to take their exam. ISPA offers a variety of certification test sites in conjunction with ISPA events, such as the ISPA Conference & Expo and Knowledge Networks.
