  • Identify at least 3 complementary and alternative (CAM) systems and practices recognized and undergoing rigorous scientific research by the National Institutes of Health.
  • Define health and wellness from the vantage of public health and preventive health model and understand how integrative medicine can work to both in the treatment and prevention of disease and promotion of health.
  • Utilize the resources provided to follow the emerging research and trends in the field of complementary and alternative medicine.
  • Build a public health / preventive health component in various spa settings-ranging from onsite programs to simple public health education to improve personal and community health. The day, resort or destination spa as an integral part of a healthy community.

 

Jason and Wendy Bazilian

Wendy and Jason Bazilian are a wife and husband integrative medical and healthcare team in San Diego, California. They have been part of the Golden Door destination spa for more nearly 8 years specializing in nutrition, prevention and wellness, and acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

Jason is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland-and was the first in the U.S. to earn a doctoral degree in this field.  He received his Master's degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine, summa cum laude, from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego, and received his bachelor's degree from University of Florida. 

Dr. Bazilian is state licensed in CA, NY, and CT, and is nationally certified in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. A certified specialist in Traditional Chinese Medical women's health, Jason also completed two months of post-graduate internship at the foremost integrated Chinese/Western medical hospital in Changsha, China and later spent another two months completing advanced doctoral training at the W.H.O. international training facility in Nanjing.

Wendy Bazilian is a writer, educator, and food enthusiast.  She received her BA from Tufts University, her MA from the UC, San Diego and her doctoral degree in Public Health and Nutrition at Loma Linda University, receiving the highest university academic honor, the Chancellor's Award. Dr. Bazilian is a registered dietitian and American College of Sports Medicine-certified Health and Fitness Specialist.

Wendy has been featured on national and local television and radio including NBC's TODAY Show, Regis and Kelly, ABC's Good Morning America, Fox Business, Univision and Telemundo. As a professional writer, she's published over 200 articles for corporate and glossy print and internet media including Martha Stewart Living, Healing Lifestyles & Spas, Natural Health, Allure, Women's Day, Redbook, Town&Country.  She is the author of The SuperFoodsRx Diet (Rodale).
